  • Vacation / Leave

    Vacation & Holiday Leave: Vacation leave is provided. Full-time residents receive 21 days of vacation per calendar year.

    Sick Leave: A GME Learner is entitled to nine (9) paid sick days annually upon matriculation, to be used solely for illness significant enough to interfere with the performance of duty.

    Unused sick days may not accrue and they may not be “cashed in”.

    The sick leave bank will be accessible according to policy parameters. Long-term sick leave is accrued and is not paid off at termination.

    Education Leave: Residents have 5 days (40 hours) of CME time each year to be used for conferences, education use, and in the graduating year can be used for interviewing.

    Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance: Dignity Health provides life/accidental death and dismemberment insurance for residents and pays the premium for 1x annual salary for life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance for residents. Additional coverage levels are available at extra cost to the resident.

    Disability Insurance: Dignity Health provides long-term disability insurance and will pay for the 60% of Base Pay option. Additional coverage available at extra cost to the resident

    Retirement Choice Program: CommonSpirit Health Retirement Choice Program is designed to help you prepare for a financial future beyond your working years. It includes two parts: 1] The CommonSpirit Health 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, featuring an employer match on your contributions. 2] An annual employer contribution with the option to direct it to either the 401(k) plan or the cash balance/pension plan.

    401(k) Plan (optional): The 403b Plan enables you to set aside pre-tax income via Fidelity. For every $1.00 you contribute to this plan (up to 6% of your eligible pay) on a before-tax or Roth basis, CommonSpirit Health adds $0.50. You are 100% vested in matching contributions after five years of service, during which you have worked 1,000 hours each year.

    Spousal & Dependent Life Insurance: Residents have the option to enroll at their own expense.

    Liability Insurance: Professional liability insurance is provided by Dignity Health to cover residents performing duties within the course and scope of their appointments.
